Market Strategies
United States refining capacity stands at approximately 17.8 million barrels per day. At the beginning of 2010 this capacity was spread across 57 refinery companies operating 139 refineries.
These companies include vertically integrated operations, as well as independent refiners. Powell and Associates is targeting Refineries Operators located in the Padd 1 area and Canada.
These refineries historically have utilized Atlantic crude basin suppliers for feedstocks. Recently these refineries have resorted to Oil by Rail delivery from the Bakken region and other shale oil producing regions for feedstock. However, oil delivery via tanker is safer and more cost efficient.
Due to the recent collapse of world oil market pricing, a number of these particular producers are at risk of ceasing operations. There has been a drastic reduction in well drilling activity and production in this area. These refiners still will be required to provide for their feed stock needs and may supplement their feedstock requirements from lower cost deliveries via ocean transport.
Powell and Associates is developing new relationships to enhance the marketability of crude products from emerging NOCs to new American client refinery operations.
